Moss on the roof

When roof moss is a problem, what it can do to tiles and gutters, and how it's removed safely.

  • Overhanging trees
  • Damp conditions and older, porous tiles

Warning signs

  • Moss in gutters and downpipes
  • Tile edges lifting

Typical solutions

  • Careful hand removal
  • Biocide treatment to slow regrowth
  • Clearing gutters afterwards

When to get it inspected
